"Winter Willows" SOLD
We haven't had very much snow this winter - yet. In fact this is the only snow painting I've done so far. I love the color of the willows against the snow and icy blue water. This painting found a new home and hangs alongside two others that were sold to the same couple here in Taos.
11"' x 14" oil
"Alpine Meadow" SOLD
This is a common scene from around here in the fall, especially if you take a cruise up to the mountains. The yellow Aspens are always fun to paint.
9" x 12" oil
"Purple Sage" SOLD
This little painting started as a "study" - I was contemplating a foreground for another larger piece.
I was really happy with how it turned out so it got framed and hung at the Deli and was sold to a woman who was passing through town on her way to her new home in Arizona!
12" x 12" oil
"La Iglesia Vieja" SOLD
I painted this one morning in my class from a photograph. I was attracted to the light hitting on the white steeple and worked quickly in order to keep it somewhat spontaneous, as it would be if I painted it on location.
9" x 12" oil
"Golden Field on Mariposa"
Another example of late summer - early fall in Taos. Large fields of tiny yellow flowers forming this large yellow mass. You have to stop and stare it's so beautiful.
24" x 24" oil
"Summer Hollyhocks" SOLD
Hollyhock season is one of my favorites - and they are everywhere here. These happen to be in the courtyard at the Blumenschein Museum where I paint on Wednesday mornings.
16" x 20" oil
"Quick Draw/Auction 2013" SOLD
In September I was invited to participate in the Taos Quick Draw - this was my second year.
There were five artists set up in the courtyard of the Blumenschein Museum, there were a few "still lifes" set up and we had three hours to complete (or try to) a painting to go to the auction afterwords.
This was my piece and it did go to a good home that day.
"Annie's Gate" SOLD
For whatever reason, I'm constantly attracted to gnarly things around Taos. This old fence was up the road from fellow-painter friend's house, Annie Morningstar. I might add a Magpie on one of the posts.
9" x 12" oil
"Overland Truck" study
This little painting was painted rather quickly one morning out at the Overland Sheepskin Company.
I chose to leave it in it's "rough" stage and call it a vignette (quick sketch)
12" x 12" oil
"Fiesta Girls Dancing"
This is just a study I did in painting the figure...it's not a finished piece but will be in the future.
Maybe larger.
12" x 16" original oil painting
