"Under the Taos Sun" SOLD

Recently I was asked to do a "Taos" themed painting for the annual Turquoise Gala Ball, sponsored by the Millicent Rogers Museum.  It doesn't get any more "Taos" than this...old adobe, blue door, hollyhocks.....I painted this in the garden at the Blumenschein Museum.  Hope it finds a good home!

"Passage thru Time"

I painted this painting yesterday with the group out at the Rio Pueblo Gorge.  There is an old dirt road that goes down in there and runs alongside the river taking you to Pilar.  It's closed off to cars but it's a great hike.  While we were painting a school bus showed up and all these little kids walked down in there - probably having a class trip.

16" x 20" oil

"Field of Gold"

Another typical scene from around Taos..I'm trying real hard at painting chamisa but I think it's going to take another hundred paintings..they have a mind of their own.  I'm probably going to add a figure into this painting so that it kind of tells a story - maybe an old man fixing the fence or stacking fire wood?

"Gray Day in May"

You can't control the weather so make the best of what you get.  My friends and I had agreed to meet in Llano Quemado on the Hot Springs Road to paint and it was not your typical blue sky and sunny day in Taos.  It was a little rainy and down right cold.  Notice the smoke coming from the chimney? This is May!  Once again the blossoms were not really there but I put them in anyway to give this painting some color.

"Early Spring in Arroy Seco"

This was the first day that the Taos Plein Air Painters got to paint outside again!  We had been painting in my studio during the winter.  I was set up across the little stream behind the Taos Cow in order to capture some of the last snow on the mountain.

"A Moment in Time"

This is a view of the gorge which basically welcomes you to Taos as you drive up from the south.  It literally takes your breath away every time.  This painting was chosen to hang in the Pilar Visitor's Center in honor of the Rio Grande National Monument.

11" x 14" oil

"Dixon Orchard"

This was a special day - all of us painters were invited to paint at this property in Dixon, just south of Taos along the river.  There weren't many blossoms since the night before there was a frost but I managed to find one tree that had a few.

12" x 16" oil

"Weathered with Time"

Sometimes as things get older they get more beautiful - I was inspired by the colors in the rusty metal roof, the patch work on the side of the barn and the broken down fence.

"good day for a walk"

I've been struggling with painting trees.  I did this one in class and thought it had a "happy ending".

"Spring's Arrival"

My Thursday painting group will be exhibiting artwork at the Trading Post Cafe from March 4th thru May 4th.  There are 16 painters participating so each artist is limited to four pieces.  It was hard to decide which four to choose so my friends did it for me!  Here they are in their frames.

"Winter Blues" SOLD

It's been below zero here for the past few nights and still getting dark way too early so some people might have a case of the winter blues...not me...the winter blues I'm referring to here are the beautiful colors of blue in the snow shadows!

"The Girls"

I wanted to share this picture - my Thursday painting group meets at my house now that it's too cold to paint outside.  From left to right we have Pat, Barbara, Peggy, me and Marianne.  We had just had a holiday get together at the Taos Inn.

"Passing Storm"

I posted this one before but wanted to post it again since I did a little more work on it and am calling it done.
